Collections of Petro Kurinnyi in archives of Ukrainian Free University and Ukrainian Free Academy of Sciences: scientific potential of sources

The aim of the work is to characterize the personal fond of the historian, archaeologist, organizer of museum business, scientific and public figure Petro P. Kurinnyi (1894-1972). This collection is stored in the archive of the Ukrainian Free University in Munich (Germany) and on deposit in the museum-archive named after D. Antonovych UFAS in New York (USA). The research methodology is based on the use of historical and comparative methods and source analysis. The use of these methods made it possible to determine the specific composition of materials, their features and information potential. Scientific novelty. The research provides for a comprehensive systematization of information on the scientific and organizational activities and intellectual heritage of Petro Kurinnyi, which is stored in foreign archives, and analysis of its information potential. The facts of Petro Petrovych's biography are clarified, and individual cases are analyzed. Conclusions. The centers for storing the intellectual heritage and personal archival documents of Petro Kurinnyi abroad are the archive of the Ukrainian Free University in Munich and the D. Antonovych UFAS museum-archive in New York. The UFU archive contains typewriters and manuscripts of P. Kurinnyi’s published and unpublication scientific works on the archeology of Ukraine, photographic materials for them and various notes. Documents related to work at the UFU, a set of documents related to the scientific and social activities of Ukrainian intellectuals in exile, and personal biographical materials, sources for Ukrainian biographical studies are stored at the University. The materials mentioned in the article from the fonds of Petro P. Kurinnyi in foreign archives have a significant scientific potential. Their detailed study and introduction into scientific circulation will help expand the source base of the history and culture of Ukraine. Drawing the attention of scientists to the archival collections of P. Kurinnyi, the authors of the article emphasize the invaluable importance of foreign Ukrainics for the most complete disclosure of Ukrainian history.
