The occurrence of postoperative pain after endodontic treatment is an urgent problem of modern dentistry. For the prevention and relief of pain after root canal treatment carried out in compliance with the appropriate protocols and standards, different groups of drugs are used, but most often in the dental practice nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) are used. The results of clinical follow-up of 68 patients after a root canal treatment carried out 93 teeth to the standards and protocols are presented. For the prevention and treatment of pain symptoms in 33 patients immediately after filling teeth a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug of nimesulide group was administered for 5 days. Comparison of the results of observations in the two groups of patients allowed to conclude that the administration of nimesulide increases the efficiency and safety of endodontic treatment.
