This study aimed to discuss music as a therapeutic resource for cancer patients, from the experience report of a supervised Psychology internship in an oncology hospital, in the city of Belo Horizonte - Minas Gerais, Brazil. Weekly meetings were conducted with chemotherapy and radiotherapy patients, using artistic and musical resources. After interventions, it was possible to observe that music provided an important therapeutic resource, helping patients and their families to express thoughts, feelings, and conflicts they experienced at the time of cancer treatment. In this sense, music has made it possible to leaving space for a broader and more integral dimension of care, often silenced in the midst of invasive procedures and other routines that make up the care scene in oncology. It is important to evidence the need of using new therapeutic ways in the oncology context, allowing the humanization of cancer patient care.
