Abstract
Dear colleagues and readers, It is my pleasure to share with you the May 2017 issue (8/1) of Journal of Social Studies Education Research. I strongly believe once again that you will have a chance to meet with invaluable studies in this issue. Through each new issue we publish strengthen our belief in reaching our goals for the future. With this opportunity I would like to emphasize once again that recent Socio-cultural and economic developments in all around the world require us, as social studies educators, to reconsider our responsibilities while training citizens and to act accordingly in order to have permanent peace and tranquility. It is a need to struggle for raising individuals who will establish the desired peace and tranquility starting from local to national and global level. Since the first day of JSSER, we strive to act on with this awareness.
