The Role of Ecosystem Services in Urban Parks

Urban green spaces constitute an important part of the urban ecosystem, and they have many benefits to nature, environment and life cycle. These benefits are; It provides many ecosystem services such as supporting biodiversity, capturing carbon dioxide and providing oxygen, regulating urban microclimate, contributing to the aesthetic appearance of cities, contributing both physically and psychologically to those living in the city. Ecosystem services which defined as ecological products directly consumed and utilized for human welfare classified in four categories like provisioning services, regulating services, supporting services and cultural services. Green areas are at the top of the list of elements that support ecosystem services. While ecosystems and city parks make important contributions to the continuity of the natural system, they also have features that support people's quality of life. In this study, the concept of urban parks and ecosystem services in urban parks have been examined.
