Effect of straw on emission reduction of kitchen waste composting leachate
Abstract
Given the problem of mutual pollution among components in the process of garbage collection and transportation after classification, taking the kitchen waste in Maojian District of Shiyan City as the research object, the physical and chemical properties of the kitchen waste were determined, and the maturity index and ammonia changes in the kitchen waste compost and the kitchen waste+straw compost were compared. The results show that after fine classification, the purity of degradable organic matter of kitchen waste in Maojian district was about 80%, the moisture content 71%, the average TOC 458.16 g/kg, the pH 4.72, and the C/N ratio 33.4. According to the change of maturity index during the composting process, the combined composting of kitchen waste and straw had better maturity than the single composting of kitchen waste; the amount of leachate produced in kitchen waste+straw composting was 0, while the leachate produced in kitchen waste composting mainly occurred in the early stage of composting, accounting for 18.26% of the total amount of composting. In terms of gas production, the peak of ammonia production appeared in the middle and late stage of kitchen waste+straw composting, and the production was slightly higher than that of kitchen waste composting.
