Chitosan has been widely used as a natural adsorbent due to its wide sources,strong adsorption properties and natural degradation. Chitosan composite hydrogel(CCH) is a new composite material which is modified by chemical and physical methods and chitosan as main raw material. The main synthesis methods of chitosan composite hydrogels including chemical crosslinking,physical crosslinking and interpenetrating network were introduced. The adsorption mechanism and treatment effect of CCH on common dyes,heavy metal ions and other common pollutants in industrial wastewater in recent years were reviewed. The existing problems and solutions in the treatment of various pollutants in industrial wastewater by using CCH were discussed. Finally,the prospects of CCH in synthetic methods,selective adsorption,recycling,intelligent modification and practical industrial wastewater treatment were presented. It hopes to provided ideas for further research on improving the properties of CCH materials and broadening its application range in industrial wastewater treatment.
