Zoos in Europe. Comment on the Document of Good Practices Directive 1999/2/EC

Abstract

The author summarizes and comments the main contents of this Guide of Good Practices, prepared at the request of the European Commission to facilitate the implementation of Directive 1999/2/EC on the conservation of wild animals in zoos. From the three fundamental pillars of the directive - conservation, education and research - this guide is also intended to contribute to an exchange of experiences among countries in the field of zoos and aquariums.
