The development of artificial intelligence (AI) in healthcare has been accompanied by numerous sensational promises. Drawing on a qualitative survey of sector stakeholders, this article moves beyond the hype to examine the practical implementation of these technologies in the medical field. It explores the ongoing transformations, focusing on how algorithmic delegation is redefining professions and reshaping jurisdictions. The study highlights that debates centered on the use of AI in medical decision-making have often overlooked the choices and normative tensions underlying this delegation. It further proposes to investigate the diverging interests among the stakeholders involved. By drawing attention to the connection between healthcare delegation and broader economic and political issues, this article sheds light on the power dynamics and social implications associated with the rise of these technologies.
