Measurement of Large Cylinders Where Access is Restricted — A Novel Approach
Abstract
A technique for gauging the variation in diameter along cylinders where there is access to less than a third of the circumference is described. The factors limiting the accuracy of measurement are discussed and sample results obtained with a self-contained, microcomputer-based, prototype instrument on cold mill workrolls of the type used in the production of wide steel strip are presented.
