At the conference «Ideological-political confrontations in the countries of Central and South-Eastern Europe. 1989-2019: Dilemma and Solutions» (Institute of Slavic Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences, October 15, 2019) analyzed the peculiarities of transformation processes both in the region as a whole and in most of its member countries. Special attention was paid to the balance of democratic and nationalist components during the revolutions themselves and the conflicts they caused. The peculiarities of the accession of the countries of the Vishegrad Group, and then the Balkan subregion to NATO and the EU, were characterized. It was stressed that not only the restructuring in the USSR, but also various versions of revolutions in the countries of Central and South-Eastern Europe led to the reformatting of the European and even global civilization space.
