The impact parenting has on the development of personality is quite known. The influence of emotions on a dysregulation level has been researched and found to influence the same. Earlier research points out that the dismissing meta-emotion philosophies parents hold have impacted the development of various psychological ailments. Evidence also indicates how the parents’ emotion-coaching philosophies efficiently aid an individual’s development. This article reviews the need to explore and understand the meta-emotion philosophy of parents of individuals diagnosed with emotionally unstable personality disorder to better comprehend the emotional functionality of the parents and the individuals with the diagnosis.
