Identification of factors affecting success of IT strategic planning (ITSP); (case study: in National Iranian Oil Company)

In order to achieve strategic goals, missions and desirable information technology, organizations require comprehensive and suitable plan. Given this, IT strategic planning serves as an integral part of organizations strategic planning. A fundamental question arisen is that what affects information technology planning? In the present study, using TOE model, the variables are categorized into technologic, organizational and environmental factors. This study was conducted in the National Iranian Oil Company (National Iranian Drilling Company (NIDC) in Ahvaz). The subjects consisted of 110 executives, councils, bosses and IT experts. Due to small number of subjects, the sample were set equal to the population. A questionnaire was designed to data collection whose reliability was confirmed and its validity was estimated 0.96 based on Cronbach Alpha. For data analyses, software's SPSS and PLS were used. The model was described by G.O.F criteria 62% characterized with strong fitness so that of eight hypotheses, five one were accepted and three were rejected. A relation between information system infrastructure, knowledge management, participation, environmental assessment to IT strategic planning and the opposite was true for relationship between information system maturing, change management and congruence to successfulness of information technology strategic planning.
