The present paper intends to focus on the in-depth analysis of silence and poetry as teaching tools. We try to prove the reasons why the teaching of silence and poetry are useful materials to be used by educators in order to show other ways of life which should be more ecological, collaborative and respectful to oneself and to the others. When we try to cultivate silence and poetry reading a focused and close look is developed, also the wish to care about the others and a deep respect for that which is observed trying to be understood. A brief proposal will be offered in which we intend to introduce in the classrooms the practice of silence the reading/writing of poems. All this will help in reaching a bigger attention in our human processes, trying to create at the same time a better and more careful relationship with oneself, the others and the world.
