One of the formal features that characterize evangelical groups in Argentina is the way they relate to Catholicism, as a hegemonic religion. We find here an attitude of critic and challenge of their institutional privilege, combined with a quest to occupy the same spaces of distinction. In this article we want to explore this unsolved link. To do this we propose to divide the analysis into two sections. The first one focuses on the importance of « integral Catholicism » in the religious history of Argentina. The second one aims to characterize the changes of the collective organization that introduce the evangelical mega-churches, in which is possible to find lines of continuity and rupture with this matrix. In the conclusion we will pose the question related to the condition of possibility of secularism in this context.
