In the early 2000s, Spain experienced strong Ecuadorian immigration, which quickly became a family migration. A significant second generation of Ecuadorian migrants grew up in the host country, settled there and obtained Spanish nationality. Since the 2008 Spanish economic crisis, part of this population has migrated to new poles within a multipolar Ecuadorian migration field. This article analyses the case of young people of Ecuadorian origin who migrate to London. It questions the reconfiguration of their relationships to spaces, and specifically to places of origin, during and following the London migration experience. A methodology is developed around semi-directive interviews with young people of Ecuadorian origin between Madrid and London. The results highlight three types of anchoring to place: emotional, claiming, and utilitarian. Depending on the experiences of individuals, forms of anchoring are varied, and its combinations are multiple. Its origins, which are constantly being built, are diverse and in the image of young people who are trying to achieve a balance between heritage and the quest for autonomy, not fixed in time and space.
