Alternative model of simulation for the accomplishment of nursing clinical emplacements: cinematographic film
Abstract
PURPOSE: The aim of this project is to value the utility of a film as a complementary model of simulation to the reality, getting to observe situations related to the process of health and illness, its influence in health patterns, the ways to satisfy the needs felt or perceived by people, as well as, determined aspects related to the context, specially the relationships established between the main caregiver and the person who receives the cares. MATERIAL: For the accomplishment of the work, the film that has been used is: “Mar adentro” that narrates the real story of a person who after suffering an accident, becomes unabled, totally dependent of the people around him. METHOD: Gordon’s health functional patterns are used for the analysis, considering the dialogues between the personages, the observation of the context where the situation is carried out and the relationships between the main caregiver and the dependent person. RESULTS: It is an extended nuclear family constituted by five members, one of which is a person totally unabled in its autonomy, whose sister acts as the main caregiver. In the personal valuation of Ramon Sanpedro, as the central starring of this film, the following patterns have been detected: the metabolic nutritional; elimination; activity/exercise; cognitive/perceptive; self-perception/self-concept; role/human relationships; sexuality/reproduction; facing problems/ tolerance to stress; values/beliefs. CONCLUSIONS: The use of films as models of simulation of the reality allow to the student the accomplishment of practical experiences suitable in the learning process, determining the observation of the health-illness process, in scenes of great realism and, also the interactions of people and their behaviours in diverse situations. The analysis of films constitutes an interesting way of learning when the acts analyzed are necessary in the human care that serves for the maintenance of life and the special relationships established when taking care of another person.
