This interview addresses the significance of the concept of “cosmopolitanism” for the study of diasporas in urban context, as well as the historians’ take on scholarly discussions across the humanities and the social sciences over the last decades. A number of key issues are dealt with, such as the historiography of cosmopolitanism, questions of historical methodology, the forms and modes of coexistence, and the role that networks play in articulating diasporic spaces at different scales.
