The aim of this paper is to show the importance of management instruments and quality management systems in organizational contexts, especially when the organization actors are involved, directly and permanently, in the discussion and construction of the mechanisms and procedures inherent to the implementation of the adopted system. The present case study regards a higher education institution, the Polytechnic Institute of Portalegre. The adopted methodology was the application of a questionnaire to the collaborators within the institution (teachers and staff), with auditing formation in quality management systems. The results confirm the hypothesis that auditing formation attendance a more receptive and participatory attitude towards adoption and implementation of a professional culture, converging with the organizational objectives in the quality management processes.
