INTRAVENTRICULAR MENINGIOMA: CLINICAL AND IMAGENOLOGICAL CHARACTERISTICS
Abstract
Introduction: the intraventricular meningiomas (IVM) are uncommon. They represent only the 0.5-3.0% of all the meningiomas. Their clinical manifestations could be late and generate obstructive hydrocephalus that could threaten the life of the patient. Case record: 29-year old patient, with 8 months of evolution of holocraneal headache that had gotten worse in the last weeks, without improvement with analgesics. Presence of projectile vomiting, isochoric reactive pupils and bilateral papillary edema in the fondus oculi. No nuchal rigidity. Slow gait. Without neurological deficiency and normal cranial nerves. Muscle strength and tropisms were normal. After the imagenological diagnosis of IVM the patient was sent to the neurosurgery service for management and follow-up. Conclusion: one of the characteristics of the IVM is the headache, usually of high intensity and associated to projectile vomiting and papillary edema. The imagenological findings are fundamental for the diagnosis and its approach. Rev.cienc.biomed. 2015;6(1):165-169 KEYWORDS Meninges; Ventricular; Neoplasm; Magnetic Resonance.
