Several researchers have demonstrated that phonological awareness is an important factor in reading development and, it has also been confirmed that there is a positive relationship between reading and phonological awareness: evidences reveal that measures of phonological awareness skills in prereaders are related to their later success in reading. In order to detect early difficulties in a phonological awareness a group of 127 prereaders from different socioeconomic environment were asked to identify drawings´ beginning or ending with the same syllable or the same phoneme.
