Library, museum and archival collection of Fond of Presidents of Ukraine in V.I. Vernadskyi National Library of Ukraine: historical and cultural dimension
Abstract
The goal of the study is to determine historical and cultural importance of library, museum and archival collection of documents of the Institute of presidency of Ukraine, which are preserved in the Fond of Presidents of Ukraine in the V.I. Vernadskyi National Library of Ukraine, and to define its special characteristics. Research methods. The study is based on general rules of systemic analysis using general scientific (generalization, formalization), theoretic (analysis, synthesis), and empiric (comparison) methods. Scientific novelty of the research. The library, museum, archive collection of the Fond of Presidents of the V.I. Vernadskyi National Library of Ukraine was considered for the first time in the context of its significance as a cultural heritage of Ukraine with an emphasis on the historical and cultural aspect. Conclusions. The collection of the Fond of Presidents of Ukraine is represented by museum, book and archival documents and materials received from the first persons of the states and ordinary citizens. These items are of notable culture significance because they could be used not only for determining the nature of international and internal relations, but for describing and analysis of givers’ mental views, especially ones concerned with respect and value of presidency, and to what extent they correspond to certain expectations, traditions, customs, norms fixed in the public consciousness in Ukraine and, similarly, in other countries of the world. Electronic resources on the institute of presidency in Ukraine are of special research and information importance. And all items are important as resources in historical, cultural and source study dimensions as means for highlighting the personalities of the presidents as a national symbol of Ukraine, their political culture, including international communication, recognition of the presidents as guarantors of the state's independence.
