Relationship between psoriasis severity degree and TNF-α levels in patients with psoriasis in combination with arterial hypertension

Abstract

The urgency of the problem is determined by the frequency of comorbidity of psoriasis by essential hypertension. Aim. In order to study the level of TNF-α in patients with psoriasis in combination with essential hypertension 102 patients were examined. Methods and results. The main group (I group) consisted of 27 patients with psoriasis in combination with essential hypertension. There were two groups of comparisons: 26 patients with psoriasis (II group) and 49 patients with essential hypertension (III group). Severity of the disease was assessed with Psoriasis Area and Severity Index (PASI). Patients completed questionnaire The Dermatology Life Quality Index (DLQI) to study the quality of life. Determination of TNF-α in the serum were provided by indirect ELISA. It was found that patients from the 1st group more frequently had widespread forms of dermatosis, with frequent relapses, psoriatic arthropathy. Conclusion. Cytokine activation correlated with worsening of the life quality. Regressive analysis revealed association between psoriasis severity and TNF-α serum level in patients from the main group.
