Renovation of industrial architecture in the context of continuous development

Abstract

Approaches to the renovation of industrial architecture objects and former industrial sites are examined taking into account the current concept of successive development of cities based on their identity and "spirit of the place". These approaches range from total demolition to the conservation of industrial facilities as they are. Each of the approaches is considered in terms of its specific features, and positive and negative aspects. The renovation of industrial buildings and complexes in domestic and international practice are illustrated by examples.
