The process of reproduction of societies are marked by the confrontation between different projects of use and meaning of its environmental resources. It is under this aspect is that social actors committed the search for environmental justice seek to report the existence of a political logic that guides the distribution of environmental damages to the detriment of the most vulnerable social groups, conforming situations of environmental injustice. Therefore, this essay aims to outline a theoretical and epistemological model for the conception of environmental justice and the causes of environmental injustice. To this purpose, Schlosberg's (2004) triple conception of environmental justice, as well as the paradigm of the ecological Marxism were adopted as theoretical bases. In this sense, a qualitative, descriptive, literature review study was constructed. The results show the importance of the critical current of environmental justice as a way to denaturalize the relationship between social inequality and environmental protection, promoting reflections about the contradictions that characterize the relations of capital.
