Quraish’s Hostility in Makka and Jews’s Hostility in Madina:A Study in Mode Variances and Analysis of Style of Hostility in the light of the Sirah of the Porphet (PBUH)

Abstract

This article is an endeavor to analyze modes of enmity adopted by two worst enemies of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). These are non-believing Quraish of Makkah and Jews of Madina. Even though, there have been other enemies as well such as Christians and Hypocrites however the major hostility revolves around the above cited. In Makka, Muslims were weak and depressed and the use of force was not yet allowed. Patience was the only effective tool of encounter; while in Madina an Islamic state had been established and use of force was permissible rather than mandatory. In this context Muslim reaction to this was also quite different. This article establishes that both rivalries were different in nature nevertheless many modes of enmity had been the same such as hatred, arrogance, bigotry, hypocrisy, and duplicity, believing in covert and denial in overt, etc. Accordingly, the Prophet’s response to both of them has been divergent however some commonalities can also be witnessed such as sincerity, patience, forgiveness, mutual cooperation, and affability, etc.
