Abstract

Containing and blocking land consumption are among the main topics, at the European level, in the field of spatial planning and protection of environment and agricultural areas. The European union has set for 2050 a target of zero land consumption. This paper contains a brief presentation of the Regional bill “Standards for territorial government”, approved by the Regional committee of Tuscany in September 2013 and then transmitted for approval to the Regional council. Among its purposes, this proposal has: enhancement of territorial and landscape heritage for a sustainable regional development; contrast to land consumption through a distinction between urbanized and rural areas; the promotion of a multifunctional role for agriculture.
