The aim of this article is to identify the determinants of propensity to innovate for companies from Argentina, Brazil and Chile, and identify the similarities and differences of the innovative behavior between countries. To perform the empirical analysis, we used the World Bank's database - Enterprises Surveys in the 2000s. Probit models were estimated for product innovation, process innovation and innovation in general. The results show that there is no standard for propensity to innovate when comparing Argentina, Brazil and Chile. The variable ‘cooperation’ stood out because it had a positive and significant coefficient for all estimations.
