Abstract | Full Text
This article aims to reassess the historical role of Archbishop Methodius († 06.04.885) who has for centuries remained in the shadow of Constantine-Cyril the Philosopher (826/27 - 14.02.869), his younger brother and inventor of the first Slavic alphabet. Reflecting on historical events that have, by now, been thoroughly investigated, the author concludes that the success of the work of Cyril and Methodius, which laid the foundations of the cultural tradition of Slavia Orthodoxa, was in fact due to both brothers in equal measure.
