By controlling the Strategic Traffic Safety Management in Montenegro, after six years of implementation of the Strategy of Road Transport Safety Improvement 2010-2019, it was found that 58% of deaths and serious injuries were reduced by 30% compared to the traffic safety situation in 2007. Thus, the set strategic goals were surpassed by 24% in reducing deaths and by 8% in reducing serious injuries of road traffic users. Although the quantitative measure of these achievements is very significant, traffic safety in Montenegro remains equally seriously lagging behind the traffic safety in the European Union countries. Therefore, for the new achievements, further development of the traffic safety system is needed, primarily the institutional management functions: coordination, regulation, funding and resource allocation, promotion, monitoring and evaluation, research and development and the transfer of knowledge and good practice.
