Matthieu Colpaert et al. use biochemical and comparative genomic analyses and identify a trehalose-dependent glycogen synthesis pathway in W. chondrophila and E. lausannensis. These results suggest that the glycogen metabolism pathway is conserved in all Chlamydiales species.
