In the present essay we intend to present the consolidation of the Science, Technology and Society Studies as an academic field, articulating such an understanding to the origins of the interface between education and STS Studies to highlight elements concerning the overall objectives, contents, structure and curricular organization of STS teaching units. Thus, an historical-analytical reconstruction was pursuited in this bibliographic study based on Aikenhead (2005, 2003, 1994), Auler (2011), Millar (1996), and Santos (2007), Strieder and Kawamura (2017, 2010, 2009) and Waks (1989a, 1989b). From an examination of this empirical research and without a normalization claim, the findings points out the historical developments which made possible the understanding of the political and educational guidelines of STS Studies present on the North American literature that allowed the disseminaton of this discussion in Brazil.
