Composition of essential oils from the leaves of Myrtus communis L. in the east of Azerbaijan
Abstract
Common myrtle (Myrtus communis L.) is widely distributed and contains an essential oil. The component composition of the essential oil was studied by gas-liquid chromatography from the leaves of M. communis grown in Apsheron, in the collections of the Institute of Dendrology. The essential oil is a light yellow liquid. The content of essential oil in the leaves was 0.3-0.4 %. 26 components were identified, the main ones are α-pinenes (27,2 %), 1,8-cineol (26,4 %) and myrtenyl acetate (15,2 %).
