The object of the study is R. Minnullin’s literary translation: a review of the Tatar translation of poems dedicated to children, from the poetic heritage of different nations: Russian, Karakalpak, Turkmen, Georgian, Armenian, Kazakh, Lithuanian, Moldovan, Ossetian, Mari, Chuvash, Udmurt and others. Whereas the literary text represents the subjective picture of the world, a mental model, based on interpreter’s individual reading the symbols of the translated works, is used as a method of world interpretation. A comparative analysis of the literary text and its translation into the Tatar language allows detecting the level of poet’s translation competence in the field of showing symbolic meaning. The article also discusses the translation difficulties caused by the mismatch of grammatical categories in different languages. The authors give the examples of literary texts, in which grammatical categories are semantic means
