Abstract

The title compound, C11H11N3O2·H2O, was obtained by the reaction of 2-acetylphenol with cyanoacetohydrazide in methanol. The asymmetric unit contains two hydrazone molecules and two water molecules of crystallization. There is an intramolecular O—H...N hydrogen bond in each hydrazone molecule. The crystal structure is stabilized by intermolecular N—H...O, O—H...O and O—H...N hydrogen bonds.
