Marginalization and flood costs in the State of Mexico, Mexico
Abstract
This paper presents the design of a multi-temporal study, which is mainly methodological, to calculate the potential tangible direct damage caused by floods in the residential areas of the State of Mexico, Mexico, on a detailed disaggregation scale, such as the electoral sections. In order to achieve this, the Index of Marginalization at the electoral section level will be calculated and an existing methodology to calculate damage for the period 2000-2012 will be applied. The study was carried out using statistical calculations software and Geographic Information Systems GIS, for the processing, analysis and cartographic representation of spatial data.
