The paper is concerned with the clarification of the periodization of pottery ware from the Old Posad of the city of Kasimov. As a result of the research, 3 ceramic groups have been identified. The first group dates the second half of the 12th – early 13th centuries, and generally has a linear ornament. The second group was formed in the interval between the second half of the 13th – early 15th centuries, the vessels are decorated with sparse linear-wavy or linear ornament, and the first and second groups are made of white-burning clay. The third group dates from the second half of the 15th to the middle of the 16th centuries. It features three traditions, the first of which is represented by white clay pots with a linear ornament, the second is represented by fragments of white-glazed kumgans made of red-burning clay, correlating with the products of Moscow workshops, and the third tradition is good-fired ceramics of rich brownish-red color decorated with polishing, associated with the products of the Middle Volga potters. The fourth group dates from the second half of the 16th to the 17th centuries and consists of white clay ware of the Kolomna type and specimen of black-glazed and stained ware. The identified chronological distribution of ceramic ware indicates a possible connection of this historical settlement with the Town of Meshchersky of the 13th–14th centuries and the Town of Kasimov in the mid-15th – first half of the 16th centuries.
