Terrorismo y miedo en el País Vasco: el chantaje de la central nuclear de Lemóniz en la prensa española (1981-1982)
Abstract
This article analyzes and interprets the argument of the main newspapers of Madrid regarding the Lemóniz nuclear power plant (Vizcaya, Spain) between 1981 and 1982. The methodology is based on the study of the editorial articles and the front pages that were published in around this matter, which was used by the terrorist group ETA to blackmail the central and regional government, as well as Basque society itself. The conclusions of this investigation reveal that «ABC», «Diario 16» and «El País» acted as main political agents in order to try to fight terrorism and to safeguard democracy, even after of the years of consensus had ended.
