The aim of this study is to determine and compare the perceptions of candidate teachers on the concept of violence through metaphors. In line with this aim, the metaphors used to perceive the concept of violence by candidate teachers in Education Faculty, Mathematics, Social and Verbal, Foreign Languages and Fine Arts Education departments and any variations by certain demographic features have been compared. The study used semi-structured survey form as data gathering tool. The form comprises two section including demographic variables and asking participants to complete the sentence "Violence is similar to…, because…". The study attained metaphorical data on the concept of violence in candidate teachers through their written statements on the concept of violence. The study utilized the qualitative study pattern of “phenomenology”. Metaphorical content analysis has been used to evaluate the data. The data have been summarized primarily as frequency and percentage charts. The sample group of the study consists of candidate teachers in Trakya University, Faculty of Education in Edirne Province during the second term of the 2016-2017 academic year. The study group comprises the sophomore candidate teachers in Trakya University, Faculty of Education. The study compares the categories developed by candidate teachers on the concept of violence to establish the conclusion section.
