This text presents the thoughts that led to the realization of the video game Attack of the bric-a-brac. From the analysis of the progressive opacity of the border between player and developer to contemporary practices of reappropriation and diversion of the video game which do not embrace tangible interfaces, shield of the dominant culture despite some niche initiatives on the fringes of the industry like the movement of alternative controller games, this research addresses the circulation of controller making through games, in particular through the concept of Make&Play, a type of video games requiring the player to make a controller prior to the game experience. If Make&Play initiatives pre-exist the game presented here, these initiatives do not invite creativity. This research addresses the design of a creative Make&Play game and the evaluation of its potential for reappropriation.
