Jalons pour une géographie de la traduction : Mieux comprendre le territoire du lac de Buyo

Abstract

Through this article, we propose an approach to carrying out a diagnosis, around issues related to the environment and the management of Lake Buyo in Côte d'Ivoire. Considering that the territorial diagnoses developped by differents actors, impede to identify issues shared by all actors, we propose the formalization of new tools capable of supporting dialogue between heterogeneous actors. Using a case study as a guideline for our analysis, we set out a new theoretical and operationnel approach based on the paradigm of complexity applied to the concept of territory and on the sociology of translation, which aims to use a problem or a disorder as a starting point to create the conditions for sharing views and actions about the lake of Buyo. This approach suggests a geography of translation by means of a matrix that links five sub-systems that make up the territory system and four steps of the sociology of translation. The creation of a cartographic synthesis makes it possible to express the cross-cutting issues arising from the analysis of the interplay between the players involved. The heterogeneous ingenuity that results in the establishment of a "clear view" of the territory is capable of stimulating cooperation, thus providing an opening towards governance. It presents itself as a tool for interpreting disorder and interaction that a project manager can mobilise in the light of the diagnoses to be implemented in order to lead a collective effort with a forward-looking dimension.
