Examining the Significance of Multimodal Interpretation for Persons with visual, Articulatory or Oratory Impairments

Abstract

Abstract: This study investigates the pivotal role of multimodal interpretation in enhancing communication for individuals with visual, oratory and articulatory impairments in the Cameroonian society. Multimodal interpretation, integrating various forms of communication beyond traditional verbal and written methods, offers a promising avenue to circumvent the obstacles faced by this demographic. The research is anchored in a thorough literature review, covering both theoretical underpinnings and practical implementations of multi modal interpretation. Through this dual lens, the study showcases how innovative communication strategies can significantly improve the quality of life for those with articulatory, oratory and visual impairments. The initial part of this research delves into the theoretical aspects of multimodal interpretation, tracing its evolution and discussing various frameworks that elucidate its mechanisms. This theoretical foundation aids in understanding the practical applications of multimodal interpretation, which is further illustrated through case studies and current technologies that have successfully incorporated these strategies. These instances highlight the transformative potential of multimodal interpretation in making communication more inclusive. Moreover, the study identifies existing gaps in the literature and proposes directions for future research, emphasizing the need for creative solutions to enhance the functionality of multimodal interpretation systems. Integrating comprehensive references throughout the literature review concepts enriches the study, bringing conceptual concepts with practical applications to forge effective solutions for communication impairments.
