INTERSCAMBI NELLA ‘REGIONE DELLO STRETTO DI MESSINA’ NELLA PRIMA ETÀ MODERNA

Abstract

Questo articolo si pone l’obiettivo di analizzare nel suo insieme la piena integrazione socio-economica che andò maturando tra la fine del XV secolo e il Seicento tra le due sponde dello Stretto di Messina. Due aree territoriali separate dal mare, ma strettamente connesse da intensi e costanti interscambi commerciali, produttivi, migratori e culturali; al punto che esse possono legittimamente essere ripensate come parti di un’unica regione economico-produttiva. This article aims to analyze as a whole the full socio-economic integration that matured between the end of the fifteenth and the seventeenth century between the two shores of the Strait of Messina. Two territorial areas separated from the sea, but closely linked by intense and constant commercial, productive, migratory and cultural exchanges; to the point that they can legitimately be rethought as parts of a single economic-productive region.
