The article analyzes the political and educational contexts experienced by Wayãpi Amerindians in French Guiana and Brazil. The ethnography of the schools’ contexts reveals the place attributed to indigenous diversity in each country and allows us to revisitate the constitutive relationship between international recommendations on indigenous peoples, States’ positions concerning sociocultural diversity (Brazil and France) and local issues.
