Review - Students at the Center: Personalized Learning With Habits of Mind

Abstract

Traditional teaching methods do not effectively meet the needs of all kids. This has resulted in student academic gaps and disengagement in the classroom. Students at the Center by Bena Kallick and Allison Zmuda outlines easy to implement approaches that teachers and schools could use to reengage students and to deepen student learning. The authors provide a framework through The Four Attributes of Personalize Learning, The 16 Habits of the Mind and an emphasis on student-driven learning that will support curious educators in developing a new learning space that is student directed and teacher led.
