The System of Criminal Penalties According to Legislations of Russia and Countries of the European Union: A Comparative Legal Aspect

Abstract

In this paper we consider the system of criminal penalties in the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation in comparison with the systems of criminal penalties under the criminal law of the European Union countries. The author touches upon some questions of the classification of types of punishments in the system of punishments, principles of the penal system as well as distinctive features of the system of penalties provided by the Article 44 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
