Turkey Earthquake Building Codes (TEBC) by shear walls, earthquake edge parallel to the direction vertical structural elements which are at least six times in the other direction of the edge. In earthquakes, The amount of horizontal displacement is very effective in the earthquake resistance of buildings. One of the reasons why the earthquake resistance of multi-storey buildings is low is that the top floor displacements are large. The stiffness of the shear walls in the direction of the earthquake is considerably greater than the columns, thus preventing the structure from being damaged during the earthquake. Shear wall construction has become mandatory by regulations in the construction of multi-storey buildings, in the reinforcement of low-strength structures, and in structures with live and excessive loads such as parking lots. The amount, direction, number and arrangement of these shear walls are as important as shear wall construction in a building. The features of the shear walls include different criteria according to the regulations of the countries. Earthquake codes that came into force at different times in our country also contain different features. In this study, the criterion for change in the dimensions of the shear walls are given according to the earthquake regulations (1975, 2007 and 2018). The numerical example made according to TBDY-2018, the effect on earthquake resistant structure design, the amount of shear wall, the contribution of the shear to the earthquake loads, the displacement of the structure and the ductility of the structure were examined.
