This article deals with the use of a visual presentation of publicistic texts to develop a scenario to master oral and writing skills in French. The visual presentation tools are analyzed in the example of a weekly magazine L’Obs. The sections with a clear visual presentation (headlines, subheads, text segmentation, paragraph layout etc.) and didactic perspectives of the material use are defined. It is noted that when working with the section texts students can master lexical and grammar material developed by the teacher; acknowledge the importance of selecting information adequately to write informative texts through distinguishing between primary and secondary; learn to write concise cohesive texts according to the section requirements; improve speaking and writing skills in the terms of creative communication. It is recommended that students focus their attention on 1) clear text structuring to effectively present and optimally perceive information; 2) the role of the plan in the creation of the text and the headings function when reading it; 3) the texts’ conciseness as a result of thorough selection of speech material and use of techniques for economy of speech; 4) means of accentuation (colors, fonts, font sizes and numbers) to highlight the most important chunks of the text and give visual expressiveness to certain parts of the message. The given methods are illustrated by the practical work to teach speaking and writing for students at the B1-B2 level at French classes. This work involves didactic material and the scenario to make students familiar with the text and help them to master certain language tools and a ‘road map’ for speaking and writing in a foreign language.
