Based on the study of the concept of a ‘model’ and the peculiarities of single-industry towns the article suggests a pedagogical model consisting of 4 units related to goal-setting, concept, process and estimating. In the course of study the peculiarities of single-industry towns have been detected. The goal-setting unit specifies tasks, methodological approaches and principles. The concept unit specifies the content of education (theoretical and practical) and describes 4 stages of preparing students of secondary professional educational institutions for professional activity in single-industry towns and specifies the necessary components. The unit related to process describes how educational process is organized. The unit related to estimating dwells on intermediate and final estimate and analysis, the study of obtained results, description of methods, criteria and levels of readiness for professional activity. Goal. The article is devoted to the issue of professional education, which is especially topical in present-day socio-economic conditions. The process of simulating the readiness of students for professional activities is analysed. The author aims at presenting pedagogical model of preparing the students of secondary professional educational institutions for professional activity in single-industry towns. Methods and Methodology. Analysis and synthesis of the materials as well as the method of simulation are used as the main instruments. Results. A pedagogical model has been elaborated in the course of study and its characteristics have been specified. Scope of Application. The results can be of use for teachers at professional educational institutions.
