Feridüddin Attar affecting many thinkers and mutasavvıf (mystics/sufis) with his works and ideas has a unique position in Turkish society especially with his work Pendname. To be read by sufi dervishes and in medrasahs and lodges for centuries has led this work to become one of the classics of east. Human and human love is at center in his world of thought. While giving advice to all sections of society he reflects the social life of the period and focuses on what virtue Muslim societies must have. Criticizing the traditional religion Attar adopts a religious approach focusing on inner experience and bringing the tolerance to the fore rather than the formalistic religion and the formal terms. Advice in Pendnâme are not only the religious and literary expressions it also addresses the issues with broad content in terms of sociology and the sociology of religion. Therefore, we believe that the examining of such works in this context will contribute to the literature. This article examines the Pendnâme in terms of the sociology of religion. In this article, from the qualitative research methods, the document analysis method was used. The resulting findings were analyzed and interpreted by using descriptive analysis technique.
